Gauri Khan and the Bollywood Badshah tied the knot on October 25, 1991, after the actor managed to win the hearts of his wife’s parents. The love story of the couple sparked when they were just in their teens and had to face a lot of troubles to eventually be happily married. Shah Rukh Khan met wife Gauri Khan at a party hosted by a common friend in 1984. The Zero star noticed his wife at the party dancing with another boy and fell for her at the very same time. As Gauri was shy to dance at the party, SRK with all his might tried to confront Gauri and ask her for her a dance. While Gauri did not show much interest in the lover boy Shah Rukh Khan, she broke the young boy’s heart by telling him she had a boyfriend and eventually shattered all his dreams. Later, when SRK understood that Gauri was with her brother, he went up to her and asked her to consider him also as her brother. Charmed by Shah Rukh Khan’s confidence and style, the beautiful love story between the couple kick-started eventually. Like any young lad, SRK was very positive about Gauri and hence did not accept her talking to any other boy in private or leave her tresses open. Looking at SRK’s conservative mindset, Gauri Khan felt much suffocated in the relationship and decided to part ways and take a break from the relation.
One fine day, while Gauri Khan was celebrating her birthday at Khan’s house, she left the party and went out to the station with her friends without telling the star, which made him realize his love for her and how he cannot live without her. When Shah Rukh realized his love for Gauri, being closest to his mother, he confessed his love in front of his mother. The Happy New Year star left with Rs 10,000 borrowed from his mother and left in search of Gauri.
Shah Rukh Khan searched for Gauri Khan everywhere and thought he almost lost her, but finally found her at a beach after searching for her a lot. On meeting each other, Shah Rukh and Gauri cried a lot expressing their love for each other and deciding to get married.
But as fate does not play well for lovers, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan still had to face a lot of drama and chaos to finally seal the deal. As the Raaes star belonged to a Muslim family and Gauri Khan to a Hindu Brahmin family, the parents of the star wife would never agree to their marriage. As Gauri Khan was a pure vegetarian and the DDLJ star was struggling his best to work in films, the couple faced a lot until they finally married each other.
As the couple were facing a lot of trouble, they had to struggle a lot to finally get along. For a span of five years, SRK posed as a Hindu boy and changed his name to impress Gauri’s parents to ask her hand in marriage. Finally, as we all know, all worked well and the couple finally tied the knot in 1991.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan have been painting the town red with the beautiful family they have raised together for 28 years.
